Four Tools for Better Segmentation

Summertime can leave marketers shooting in the dark trying to reach their target audience, while everyone is away from their desk on vacations.  Utilize these four tips to better segment your messages and ensure you reach your end target.

  1. Analyze Buyers— ask yourself who buys from your company.  A great starting point is to analyze the last year’s worth of contact information (buyer’s name, size of their business, industry, and location).
  2. Hard Sell v. Education— be aware of the type of message you are sending to both active and non-active clients.
  3. Understand Personas— a great way to understand buyer personas is through focus groups and customer surveys.  Better understanding your customer’s personality allows you to communicate with them more effectively.
  4. Leverage Technology— tracking data through website visits and downloads allows the marketer to identify new customer prospects and create long-term messaging for them.
