What is Retargeting?

By: Sagefrog

Retargeting is a relatively new form of online advertising that can help with your awareness and drive traffic to your site.

According to our online marketing experts here at Sagefrog, retargeting ads are designed to concentrate on users who have previously viewed your site. Therefore promising that your advertising spend will only be on those who have previously shown interest in your business.

How much does it cost?

With Pay-Per-Click retargeting ads, you are not paying for the impressions your ad generates, but only if it is clicked and brings the user to your site.

How does it work?

Retargeting functions by assigning a retargeting pixel to either your entire site or specific pages you want to focus on. When visitors view the specified pages they become labeled as “audience” and drop a cookie. Now when your audience visits additional websites in the display networks you are running your retargeting ads on; your ads will appear. If an ad converts an audience member, meaning a contact page view, contact form submission or a purchase, they are then removed from the audience.
