Landing Pages: 4 Fatal Content Mistakes

By: Sagefrog

A customized landing page is an integral part of capturing qualified leads and driving sales, so it is important that the content on that page is valuable to the ideal customer. The right content is what keeps the customer on your page and off the pages of your competitors. Here are some of the most common content mistakes that can harm your credibility and be a factor in reduced sales.

1. Keyword Stuffing

While keywords are important for online content, too many keywords can harm your website and business. Instead, focus on writing content that is useful and valuable. Also, make sure that the content on your page matches the title of your page and stays on topic! Customers get frustrated when they are lured into a page that does not deliver on its promise.

2. Not Knowing Your Audience

Before you write one word on content, understand who you are writing for. So many companies make the mistake of writing to the wrong level of consumer, which causes them to miss out on an opportunity.

3. It’s a Brag Fest

Your landing pages are not about you. They are about the customer’s needs, wants and desires. Before you hit publish, ask yourself, “Why should my readers care about this.” Focus on what is in it for them.

4. Just Another Ad

While advertising might drive potential customers to a landing page, it will not keep them there. You don’t want a landing page to sound too salesy. It is a place to show a customer why they want what you offer. If your page sounds like an advertisement, rewrite it.
