Using Social Media Insights to Develop Your Content Marketing Plan

By: Sagefrog

Social media provides you with great insights into your customer base.  Use it to uncover their interests, wants and needs and then develop content marketing pieces that will better capture their attention. Below are 5 ways to use the power of social media to better understand your customers.

  1. Target Your Popular Platforms – Which social media platforms are your customers using the most to engage with your company? Tailor your content to the appropriate channels to maximize engagement.
  2. Uncover User Interests – What is most relevant to your customers? See what groups they are apart of, content they have commented on or liked and even look at their most recent posts. By developing content in line with what they want to read/look at, you can better capture their attention.
  3. Stay On Trend – Sites like Twitter and Facebook are making it easy to see what topics and ideas are trending every minute. While you probably won’t be able to incorporate every trending topic of the day, you can capitalize on popular relevant topics to get your brand noticed.
  4. Promote Engagement – Aren’t sure how your customers feel about a certain topic? Ask. Pose questions at the end of a blog post or create surveys. The goal is to get people talking to you and about your brand.
  5. Use Infographics – Infographics are a highly engaging way to get people excited about the data you are putting out and set you up to create multiple pieces of content surrounding the statistics within.
