By: Sagefrog

When’s the last time you Googled your company?  It might seem like a silly thing to do, but the things consumers, competitors, and colleagues write about you, whether negative or positive, can greatly affect your business.  To protect your company’s online reputation, follow these tips:

Google Yourself (and Bing and Yahoo!)– search your company’s name, products, and include mis-spellings and image searches as well.  You’ll want to see your company’s website and relevant news on the first page.

Set up Google Alerts—  this allows you to be emailed every time you are mentioned online, including keywords that you submit, letting you to keep up with real time  mentions.

Check out Competitors— watch what people are saying about your competitors (both good and bad) and learn from it.

Company Website— this is where your customers go for information regarding your company’s products and services; make sure it presents you in the best light possible.

Social Media— log on to your Facebook and Twitter daily and to all questions and comments in a timely and professional manner.
