5 Brand Messaging Mistakes

By: Sagefrog

Your business’s marketing messages must capture your target audience’s attention and push them to take further action (whether that be buying your product, inquiring about your services, or just visiting your website!).  Often times, marketers push the product and not the personality, resulting in a failure to deliver their message effectively.  Follow these tips to ensure your brand messaging is hitting the mark:

  1. Speak to Customer’s Values— take the time to understand your customer’s core values, and then align your message accordingly.
  2. Lay Off the Buzzwords— it’s great to embrace trends, but the more popular trend words get, the less effective they become.
  3. Make Your Message Portable— keep your message to under two sentences so customers can more easily spread it through word-of-mouth advertising.
  4. Utilize Exciting Language— use action words, interesting language, and energy to make your message memorable.
  5. Group Messaging— instead of trying to please every single person in the conference room, and thus making a bland mission statement,  make sure your message and vision is for the customer and is clear and concise.
