Making Your Email Newsletter Work

By: Sagefrog

Despite the development of various social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, FourSquare, etc…), email remains one of the most useful tools for businesses to reach their customer base.  To help build customer relationships and drive sales, follow these tips when comprising your next email newsletter:

1. Make a compelling offer

Discounts, industry tips, sale exclusives

2. Send often

Sending a newsletter once or twice a month is enough; you don’t want to be labeled as a spammer!

3. Clean design

Having enough white space in the email ensures that the important pieces stick out, and the design doesn’t overwhelm the reader

4. Keep it personal

Figure out your readers’ interests and segment your newsletter/email lists to cater to them

5. Encourage communication

Provide surveys, polls, and links to forums to encourage communication

6. Create an interesting subject line

This is what draws the reader to actually open the email, rather than immediately deleting it

7. Don’t Oversell

Don’t overwhelm the customers with pitches, but instead provide the reader with relevant and beneficial information

8. Tie in Social Media

Including your social media accounts and/or blog is an easy way to drive traffic to those sites, and gain more followers

6. Keep Tweaking

Figure out what works for you and keep trying to make it better and better

Use these tips to keep your relationships with your customers active, while driving sales for your business. For creation of successful email newsletters and all other full-service, integrated marketing please visit Sagefrog Marketing Group at sagefrog.com or call 215-230-9024.
