How to Avoid the SPAM Folder

By: Andrea Panno

spam folder

Coming up with a creative email blast can be tricky and very time consuming. Make sure you aren’t implementing these 6 common mistakes that would put your hard work to waste by getting your email automatically sent to the Spam folder.

Common Mistakes:

  1. Excessive use of exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Using phrases similar to “Click here!” or “Once in a lifetime opportunity!”
  3. USING ALL CAPS, WHICH COMES OFF VERY AGGRESSIVE IN EMAIL ANYWAYS (This includes the subject line)
  4. Creating an HTML email that’s nothing but one big image, with little or no text. Since Spam filters can’t read images, they assume you’re a spammer trying to trick them.
  5. Sending a test to multiple recipients within the same company. That company’s email firewall will most likely assume it’s a spam attack.
  6. Using bright red or green colored fonts.
