5 B2B Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Conferences to Attend in 2017

By: Alyssa Dannaker

When exploring your options for marketing to the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries in 2017, it’s important not to lose focus on the traditional tactics that will increase brand exposure. In fact, Sagefrog’s 2017 B2B Marketing Mix Report found that second to online marketing, tradeshows and events generate the highest ROI for your brand. Attendance at conferences and expos gives you the chance to connect with other business professionals and share your newest offering. For the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, preparation for these events is often strenuous but exciting, as outgoing leaders gear up to meet prospective clients and investors on their own turf. Medica, MedTrade and AACC Clinical Lab Expo are some of the most widely attended healthcare and pharma events, but if, like us, you live in the Greater Philadelphia region, there are a few conferences closer to home.

Here’s a quick list of events that don’t require a cross-country or foreign trek, organized by distance for our nearby B2B friends:

CPhI North America

Philadelphia, PA, May 16th-18th
Very close to home, CPhI North America takes place this year at the Philadelphia Convention Center and positions itself as an event with “all the features of [their] premier world events – now on a more intimate scale.” This event is geared toward the pharma industry and offers attendees the chance to create partnerships that will help the industry grow. Around 6,000 people are estimated to attend.

Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East

New York, NY, June 13th-15th
Learn about the latest in medical device development processes at MD&M East. This expo and conference brings together medtech suppliers and manufacturers, giving attendees the opportunity to view the latest in medical technology, mobile and digital health, data security and more. Connect with over 5,000 industry professionals and also stop by panels and workshops that can further your career.

INTERPHEX

New York, NY, March 21st-23rd
“Experience Science through Commercialization” at INTERPHEX, is an event for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device development and manufacturing. Last year’s event boasted attendees and exhibitors from 48 states and 52 countries with more than 625 suppliers exhibiting technology and value-added services. The number of attendees is estimated to be 10,000 to 12,000 this year.

54th ASHE Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition

Indianapolis, IN, August 6th-9th
A little smaller than the previous events listed, The American Society for Healthcare Engineering’s annual gathering of around 3,800 professionals is all about healthcare facility management and engineering. The event covers efficiency, sustainability and important current and future challenges in the changing healthcare climate and offers time to connect with like-minded individuals in the industry.

The Drug Information Association (DIA) 2017

Chicago, IL, June 18th-22nd
DIA 2017 is an annual life sciences event that last year boasted around 6,400 attendees also known as “life sciences thought leaders.” If you’re one, you can expect to discuss healthcare product development and other topics including big data and eHealth, patient engagement and even disruptive technology such as the use of wearables in clinical trials.

Keep these five events on your radar as big opportunities to complement your other marketing tactics in 2017. Don’t forget to broadcast your upcoming attendance through social media, share your experience after the event with a blog recap and close the loop with new connections.
